Enabling community control over assets in a resident-led programme

Following the end of Big Local in March 2026, and once most of the resources on Learning from Big Local had been created, two evidence-based guidance documents were created for practitioners working with communities, focused on the unique attributes of the Big Local programme.

This guidance provides principles, and signposts to relevant material on Learning from Big Local, to help practitioners deliver projects where residents are leading decision-making about buying, building or managing assets to bring about positive local impacts. While this guidance is aimed at those involved in setting up large-scale resident-led programmes, practitioners working at a smaller scale may also find the principles and insights useful for their projects.
